Welcome to the Jersey Organic Association (JOA)

        20 years of environmental education and campaining in Jersey

The JOA campaigns on many aspects of food and farming in Jersey. Annually we invite a guest speaker to talk on a current topic, and we issue a quarterly newsletter of our activities and information. The association offers advice and support on various aspects of organic gardening, farming and living.

The Committee agreed to make a donation of £25 to the Soil Association to support the campaign against the abuse of antibiotics in farming.

Some of the permaculture group have produced a response to the States consultation paper on an energy stategy for Jersey. This has been adopted by the committee and is now a JOA response. read it here

Slow food movement

Saturday 9 February, at 12 midday, and will consist of a tour of the Jersey and Tipsy Toad Brewery Head Brewer Paul Hurley of The Jersey and Tipsy Toad Brewery invites Slow Food members to a Scratch and Sniff Brewery Tour. Don’t go to Ann Street by mistake! The Jersey Brewery is at Tregear House, Longueville, just at the foot of Les Varines at the old Smith’s site. The visit will last about an hour and a half including tour and tasting

Saturday 15 March – the annual Slow Food conference seminar on food and food production issues.
Speakers from the UK are: Colin Tudge – author of various books about the future of food and farming, see plenty of references about him by ‘googling’ his name on the internet.
Graeme Kidd - until last year, Mayor of Ludlow, founded the Ludlow Food festival, and a spokesman for the ‘ Slow Town ’ movement which is a ‘cousin’ of Slow Food
Barny Haughton, celebrated chef, with trenchant views about the importance of local produce to gastronomy
